Here are some of the program's capabilities:

  • pattern recognition drills. Select the type of patterns to be used, the number of patterns in your drill, and the program times how quickly you can fill in the missing numbers;
  • play a randomly dealt hand, using a deck where the cards have no ranks. North/South win every trick, and after the deal you are quizzed on the suit and hand distributions;
  • play a randomly dealt hand, using a regular deck. After the deal you are quizzed on suit and hand distributions, as well as HCP distribution;
  • import files in PBN format. These deals are played automatically by the program;
  • import txt files in conjunction with a PBN file. For example, a chat log;
  • comments can be easily added to cards played in a PBN deal. Select some text from the displayed txt file, a couple of clicks, and its done. You can also manually enter comments, independent of the txt file.

You may be wondering why you can play a deal using cards with no ranks. The reason is simply to allow the user to concentate on the distributions without worrying about winning tricks or making contracts. Its like playing 7NT, and you make every time!

Playing a deal with a regular deck is more realistic in that the opps can win tricks. However there is no contract involved, so again there is no distraction regards making contracts.

Improving your counting skills is a difficult process for new players, and the quality of your play will usually decrease as you are learning this skill. My purpose in writing this program was to allow you to develop and practice your technique without all the inherent distractions of real play; practise here instead of at the table!

I hope this program is of some value to you. Although it is freeware, I would like to ask you a small favour: Please provide me with some feedback, positive or negative! What could I improve? Are there other features you would like to see? Please see my email address below.
Have fun!
